Funny you should mention Beau. I was going to e-mail you about him sometime this week. Beau is doing great. He is house trained and growing at a fast rate. I'll bet he's twice as big now as when we took him home. His ears are getting longer, too.

Beau enjoys romping around our yard and woods. Generally, he comes when I call him although when he found a dead bird in the field I had to carry him home because he wouldn't leave his "kill." I have also taught him to shake a paw.

His bark is becoming deeper which is great to hear.

After just one month he's really settled into our family. I couldn't imagine not having him around now. We'll be taking him on a camping trip in a couple of weeks, and I'll send some photos after that.

Take care,
Joe

Homer is doing very well. he is so playful! He jumps on Butch's back and wrestles on the floor with our cat Bosley. the only thing I am not fond of is when he eats the chipmunks and mice that our cats bring into the backyard. YUCK! How Awful! But I guess there is no way to stop that.

He is doing pretty well with house breaking. Still having accidents but not as many. Our vet says he is very healthy. Homer is so fun to have around the house. He is great for Butch, to, even though he rides his back all day. Butch has lost weight since Homer's boot camp began!!

I just wanted to let you know that Cletus is doing great! He has been a wonderful addition to our family and absolutely love Maggie and the children. I haven't seen Maggie play in a couple of years, she had LBS (Lazy Basset Syndrome), but she actually looks forward to her romps with him. he is doing well with house training and I am very impressed with the fact he has not had a #2 accident in the house or in his kennel!

I will send pictures soon. Thank you so much for meeting us in C-ville to pick him up and his vet check went well yesterday with no problems!

Sincerely,
Suzanne

I took Beau to the vet yesterday for some More shots, and the vet said her was perfect. Beau was very well behaved and is the darling of the office now. He is very healthy, fit, and trim. He weighs 18 pounds! He and I go on long walks twice a day.

Beau thinks he's a lap dog at times. He'll get a favorite toy or bone and try to curl up in my lap when I'm sitting on the floor. I also find him to be mischievously smart. When we don't give him the attention he wants' he knows just how to make us notice him: he'll head for my desk and threaten to get into the computer wires. He won't sleep in the nice dog house I bought. He dug a pit in the dirt under our deck and prefers to sleep there. Finally, he tried his hand at swimming by jumping into a friend' s pond. The pond had steep slopes, and once Beau got in, he couldn't climb out. I had to go in and push him out.

Take care,
Joe

Quincy is doing great. He is up to about 15 pounds and starting to loose his "puppy" look. He is still a baby and wants to be held all of the time. He loves playing and is becoming very "vocal". We start puppy training classes in September. I hope all is well on Huckleberry Mountain! I'll send you some more pics of him when I get a chance.

Dawn

Flash is doing great but i think she is getting longer instead of taller! She is very loyal and hangs around the house. She also likes to do one lap around the house before coming inside. Here is a picture of her ready for halloween!

Betsy took Beau to the vet on Monday, and he weighed 27 pounds! When we took him home he was about 14. He is such a handsome dog, and he is in great health. My boys have started taking him for walks in our woods.

Beau is often fond of visiting the neighbors with me. They are an elderly couple who have farmed the land around us for many years. They have owned many dogs in the past including a Basset. They are very fond of Beau and enjoy his visits. I love watching him explore our fields and woods. In the mornings he walks with me down our driveway to get the paper. We're taking him camping this weekend, and I'll send some photos.

Joe

We took Beau hiking and camping with us near the Peaks of Otter in the Blue Ridge. He did very well. We must have hiked about a mile around a scenic lake. Many of the other hikers couldn't resist coming over to pet him. Bassets really make people stop and chat.

Beau seems very happy. He enjoys going for long sniffs in our woods. In the house he is fond of stealing hats, but I let him because he's so funny about it. He'll grab a hat off a chair and run away with it to his spot in the house. He chews on it for just a minute then lets it go.

Lady has really taken to our Sheperd/Chow female dog.  She follows her around everywhere.  Puppy Bassett Hounds love to bite.  I always try and give her something else to bite on, but I think she prefers fingers and toes.  Lady is also a talker if another dog does something she doesn't like she stands right in front of them and gives them a piece of her mind.  It was certainly a blessing to have Lady join our family!

I have to tell  you that Julius is the most perfect puppy. He is so sweet and such a wonderful dog. Here are some pictures of him at about 2 1/2 months old. Enjoy!

Gracie is doing great! Getting big. She is such a great puppy. We have already talked about getting another one! She has her next vet appt this weekend. I will email you after and let you know how it goes. And I will also send some new pictures. She has a boyfriend Dudley. He is our neighbors puppy. They play ALL day long. They are very cute.

I don't know what i would do without my lil' miss daisey, she has really made a big difference in my life, so rotten, and so loveable. I started with casey, i got her for my brother Cliff and dog sit her everyday, he would drop her off @ 4:00 in the morning and pick her up @ 6:00 in the evening. They are both hilarious when they romp for hours, guess because they are half sisters and so jealous of each other. Daisey loves to swim in the pool, casey loves her bath, but no pool for her. Brenda and Robin, a special thanks to you both.

Jolie told me about your new site and it looks great!!  Griffin says hi and is doing great.  He eats like crazy and loves to play. Talks back a lot and gets in trouble, but is doing wonderfully and we love him.  Anyway, just wanted to say hello and that I love the site. Talk to you soon.

Gracie had her vet appt. She is the hit of the office. Everyone wants to know all about her. All the staff just loves her.  She is doing great according to the Doctor. She is almost 18 lbs. She is growing so fast. Doing great with potty training and sit. I love how she "talks" to me in the morning when she wants her breakfast. And when she wags her tail it goes around in a circle like a propeller.

I love the website. Very nicely done! My kids were thrilled when they saw the pictures of Gracie. We will definitely be contacting you when we are ready to get another one. We are officially hooked!

Take care & I will continue to keep you posted on how she is doing.

Griffin is great and we love him so much.  He is smart, funny and still talks back.  He is just gorgeous! As you can see he is not spoiled at all. He has his own bed and loves to sleep under the covers.

Toby was born 7/04/05 He is a great dog when we got him as a puppy we had another dog he was very small so Toby thinks he is a lap dog which is hard at 40lbs. he is very gentel I take him to the nursing home where I work and he never jumps on any of the residents he lets them pet him and even pull his eras and never complains they all love him and are always egar to see him.

His best friend is a cat who showed up on our doorstep when Toby was 3 months old He loves to have his picture taken and loves to go in the car He dosen,t like to be left alone and he follows me from room to room. His favorite place to sleep is in my bed up by the pillows. He has been a great addition to our family.
